What’s changed around town
CapEd Downtown Boise YMCA
A new place to build a routine
The YMCA has announced December 12, 2026 as the new downtown facility’s grand opening. It belongs on the watch list even for people who know the old Y well. Before joining, compare the programs you would actually use, membership terms, financial assistance and opening updates. Announced opening—not yet open as of October 18.
Details & plan your visit ↗Ada County’s Park at Expo Idaho
A new reason to revisit Garden City
The county’s roughly 50-acre park is scheduled to open October 23, 2026. Planned features include nature trails, restored wetlands, a boardwalk, a nature playground and an all-wheel skate garden. As of this October 18 review, treat it as coming soon. Check opening updates and which amenities are available before visiting.
Details & plan your visit ↗Athletic Club Boise
A soccer night at Expo Idaho
AC Boise’s inaugural 2026 season brought professional soccer to the stadium at Expo Idaho. The stadium and new public park are separate destinations. Use the club’s own schedule and ticket links for the next home fixture; check parking and entry policies rather than assuming a park visit includes stadium access.
Details & plan your visit ↗Erma Hayman House
A Boise story you may have missed
The historic house at 617 Ash Street became a public cultural site in 2022. Its River Street neighborhood history gives longtime residents a different way to understand a familiar part of town. Pick a current program or visiting time and give the story room to land.

The Hydrant
A practical little North End discovery
This may be the cute dog wash you have noticed: The Hydrant at 1210 W. Sherman Street offers self-service washing and professional grooming. A local Reddit recommendation praises its cleanliness and equipment, but that is anecdotal—not a service guarantee. Check included supplies, last-bath cutoff and grooming availability. Local discussion.
Details & plan your visit ↗Treasure Valley Skate
Trade another dinner out for wheels
The roller rink at 4712 W. State Street is a playful alternative for a family outing or a different kind of date. Check its session calendar, rental availability and admission before leaving; public skating and roller-derby events are different outings.
Details & plan your visit ↗Morris Hill Park
A smaller outing with space to choose
The city lists an enclosed, one-acre dog park with a separate shy-dog area and bark surface. That distinction may matter more than a ‘best dog park’ label. Watch the group before entering, use the appropriate area and follow posted rules. The nearby cemetery has different dog restrictions.
Details & plan your visit ↗Warm Springs Greenbelt stretch
Choose the walk that fits today
Ada County identifies a 1.24-mile Greenbelt segment between the East Parkcenter Boulevard bridge and Warm Springs Golf Course. Use a portion as an out-and-back rather than promising yourself a big loop. Check current conditions and access, share the path with cyclists, and add a clubhouse stop if you wish.
Details & plan your visit ↗Warm Springs Golf Course
A round close to town
The municipal course offers 18 holes among mature trees, minutes from downtown. Start with the current tee-time and rate information, and check lessons if you want to ease back into golf. Playing the course and stopping at the newer clubhouse are separate options.
Details & plan your visit ↗Escape the Crate
Find the right fit before a trip
Escape the Crate offers boarding and daycare in the Treasure Valley. Before choosing a location, ask about overnight staffing, rest periods, group-play screening, medication handling and the full price with extras. A tour and a short trial can tell you more than a generic ‘best boarding’ badge.

Idaho Steelheads
Make downtown your game-night destination
For a live-sports evening, start with the Steelheads’ official ticket options and home schedule. Compare a single game with any multi-game plan only if you will use it. Check seat location and the complete cost, including fees and parking.
Details & plan your visit ↗Boise State
Look beyond your usual team
Football and men’s basketball are obvious starting points, but the athletics ticket office also helps you explore other Bronco sports. Check women’s basketball, volleyball or gymnastics when choosing a different outing. Use the current calendar for venue, admission and game times; do not assume every event has the same ticket rules.
Details & plan your visit ↗Bogus Basin Community Race Series
A different way to spend time on the mountain
Bogus Basin held cross-country and downhill community races in summer 2026. Those dates are past, so use the official calendar to watch for the next announced series. Decide whether you want to race or spectate, then check registration, access and viewing arrangements.
Details & plan your visit ↗Owyhee Motorcycle Club
Put a local race on your radar
The club publishes a calendar of race and practice activity. Choose an actual race listing rather than assuming a practice day offers the same spectator experience. Confirm the event location, entry cost and viewing areas; bring hearing protection and follow the organizer’s access instructions.
Details & plan your visit ↗Snake River Stampede
A regional tradition worth planning around
Make this a deliberate Treasure Valley outing rather than an afterthought. Start with the organizer’s next announced dates and ticket information, then choose a performance that works for your group. Check the venue’s seating and parking details. An old rodeo schedule is not a promise of next year’s dates.
Details & plan your visit ↗Albertsons Boise Open
An occasion without needing to play
The event at Hillcrest pairs professional golf with an entertainment program. It is a way to enjoy a golf occasion as a spectator. Check the next announced edition, which activities your ticket includes and total cost; do not assume country-club membership is necessary or that premium hospitality is the only option.
Details & plan your visit ↗Smaller areas to explore next
Garden SITy art benches
Notice what you have been walking past
Garden City’s art benches make the Greenbelt an outdoor design hunt. Look at the city’s bench information before setting out and choose one small stretch to explore. This is an established public-art collection worth rediscovering, not a newly opened attraction.
Details & plan your visit ↗The Latah Street area
A neighborhood-sized afternoon
Use Sidequest as one anchor, then explore the Depot Bench’s small-business stops instead of building every outing around downtown. City Cast’s neighborhood guide is a useful starting point; independently confirm each business before going. Keep the outing short enough that you have time to notice the place.
